Trailer Hitch Recommendation and Installation Process for 2009 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD
Question:
Hi, I have 2009 Toyota RAV4 limited AWD. I need to install 2inch hitch. as I looked at my frame rails, there are two threaded holes on the drivers side used for a tiedown, but absolutely no holes on the right side, next to the muffler. All hitches you offer need holes on both sides to be mounted what should I do? drill the frame rails? thanks!

We offer three brands of 2-inch Class III hitch for your 2009 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD that you can see by clicking on the link provided. All install without drilling and all include the required mounting hardware. Of the three I recommend the Hidden Hitch # 87697 for it's lower price and higher tongue weight capacity of 675-lbs.
All hitches that fit your car will install at the same mounting points on the car's frame. Some of these mounting points will be hidden until you remove the bottom plastic appearance panel and lower the exhaust from it's hangers as described in the linked instructions. The instructions list the tools required, mostly basic hand tools; the only specialized item needed is a torque wrench like # ALL944001. This lets you tighten the included fasteners to the manufacturer's specs.
I linked an install video for a similar hitch that shows it's installation on the same generation RAV4 as yours.
I also linked an article that will help you select a ball mount like # D-4 if you will be towing. Towing also requires a hitch ball like 1-7/8-inch ball # 19260 or 2-inch # 63845, a Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3, as well as a wiring harness # 118412.
