Installation of 7way Trailer Wiring for Brake Controller on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with Factory 4way
Question:
I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with the factory 4 plug. I am getting a trailer with brakes. I have the 4-7 adapter, and a brake controller. I know the blue wire is for brakes, and the black is for 12v power. My question is, Where is the connector to splice in the blue wire? Also, where does the black wire splice in at? My truck has all the tow package fuses and everything. Thank You

I can help you with your brake and power connections for your 7way on your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with the factory 4way.
The Brake (blue) wire does not run all the way back to the 4-pole at the rear; it stops at the connector that is located under the driver's side wheel well. In order to finalize the installation you must splice into this wire and continue it back to the plug.
The Power (black) wire will need to be routed with a 10 gauge wire from the 7way adapter run to a 40 amp circuit breaker and then routed directly to the battery and mounted with a ring terminal. If you got our 4 to 7 way adapter # ETBC7 then the extra wire and connectors needed to install the harness are already included. If not then I recommend the 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1, butt connectors # 05732-2, and ring terminal # DW05741-1.
