Longer Weight Distribution Shank, Timbren Springs and Straptek Sway Control for 2014 Ram 2500

I have a 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 SLT short bed and I have a diamond back ATV carrier to carrier two ATVs on the back deck attachment extends deck to 8 feet, I tow a 2013 Springdale 225 26 FT, GVWR of 7680 and hitch WT of 680. My current WD set up is a 2inch Reese 3344 Deep shank with a Husky trunnion WD set up. I have pulled this set up several times with out issue , I want a little more clearance between my ATV deck and the camper when making sharper turns or backing in camping sites, is there a longer shank available? the current set up has about a 2 3/8 inch from top of the shank to top of the ball. Two follow on question are: will the straptek replaceement for trunnion bars work and also reduce sway? and would the Timbren SES provide addition support in towing this or is the truck already set up to handle?

I am sure we can get you set up with the parts you will need to get a little more clearance between the truck and trailer. Curt shank # C17122 measures 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes so it will provide a little more clearance.

Adding Timbren springs # TDR2500D will help the truck support all of that weight better and will help reduce stress on the stock suspension so it would be beneficial to use it.

One thing to keep in mind that when calculating tongue weight for weight distribution you have to factor in the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. In this case you have one whole ATV behind the rear axle so you have to account for the weight of it too.

So if the hitch weight is 680 pounds for just the trailer and the ATV weighs another 400 pounds at least you would need to have a weight distribution system rated for more than 1,080 pounds. Just keep that in mind moving forward.
