How to Use a Reese 16k Slider Hitch in a 2012 Ford F-250 with Hitch Prep Package
Question:
I have been towing my Cougar xLite 28SGS with a 2012 F150 ecoboost and I am upgrading to a 2012 F350 6.2 L SRW with the fifth wheel prep package and a 6 3/4 bed. While the F150 tows it with ease, I have just never felt comfortable being roughly 600 pounds overweight. Can I use the 30047 hitch with the factory prep package and if so what do i need to buy? Thanks

It is a very smart move on your part to upgrade to a truck that has enough capacity to tow your trailer. Even if the motor has enough power for the trailer there are other things that need to be considered like brakes, frame strength etc.
Since you have a short bed truck you would need to use the slider version of the part # RP30047 that you referenced. For that you would want the # RP30075. This has the same hitch head and shoulders as the one you referenced but it is mounted on a round tube slider which will give you the needed clearance to make tight turns.
Now to install this hitch in the rail kit of your 2012 Ford F-250 you will just need the adapter part # RP30156.
