Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2004 Ford Escape with 4-Way
Question:
I would like to install a brake controller for my 2004 Ford Escape. I think I have a tow package for the vehicle it can tow 3500 pounds, but it only has the 4 flat connection for a trailer. I understand that I might be able to buy a harness that connects directly up to the vehicle so that I dont have to do as much wiring, but Im not sure how to tell if my vehicle has the proper connection under the dash. I dont see an empty bracket right now. Will I pull out one of the existing plugs and replace it with the after market brake controller harness? Is there some way to tell if I am able to install a harness rather than having to do all of the extra wiring? Thanks for your help!

For your 2004 Ford Escape there aren't any plug and play brake controller options but we still can help.
Since you have a 4-way already you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
