Even Brake Arm Does Not Move During Testing Procedure

Question:

I purchased a used motorhome and received an EVEN BRAKE system with it. I installed the wiring for the transmitter and receiver for the ICX and breakaway. This was installed in a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited. After wiring the Jeep, I put the braking unit in the vehicle, plugged the ICX cable into the transmitter and power cable into the lighter. The braking unit powered up and the compressor pumped up and stopped. I pressed the test button and the unit sounded like it was pumping the brake but it did not extend the arm. It sounded like it pumped 3 times and the green light came on. The monitor said the the system was ready. I pushed the test button again and again it sounded like it pumped but the arm did not move. You could hear the air escape each time it tried. The unit had some free play so if it had moved I would have seen it. After what sounded like 3 times, the compressor pumped up again, stopped and turned on the green light. Why is it not pumping? Also the monitor has to be within 5 to 6 feet for it to receive a signal. Why?

As far as the transmitter and the in-cab monitor the issue is likely the location of the ICX transmitter. Try moving it to a higher location or in a location with less obstructions.

This could also be the cause of the unit not functioning properly during the testing phase of the installation.

If the system is running but the pressure is not building then that would be an internal problem and the unit will need to be serviced or replaced by Roadmaster.
