Parts Needed to Install Prodigy P2 Brake Controller in 1997 Suburban 1500 with 4-Pole Wiring
Question:
With the Prodogy 2 brake controller, what do I need for the wiring/harness for my 1997 Suburban 1500 4 wd? The Truck did not come with the trailering package but their is an existing 4 blade plug wired at the hitch. Is there a harness made for this controller and application and what is involved with the wiring? THANK YOU

If your 1997 Chevrolet Suburban already has a working 4-pole flat trailer connector you can easily convert it to a 7-way type to allow for installation of a brake controller like the excellent Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. All you need is the controller itself and our installation kit # ETBC7, for which an install video is linked.
The ETBC7 includes the 7-way socket, wiring, connectors, circuit breakers - everything you need to complete installation of the P2. This will give you a 7-way socket that carries lighting and braking signals and a 12V power feed. There is no quick-connect wiring adapter for controller installation in your Suburban.
You might want to test the 4-pole to ensure it is carrying the lighting signals from the vehicle. You can do this by plugging in a trailer or by testing the vehicle connector with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Please refer to the linked video for illustration.
