Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2003 Acura MDX

Question:

I see that there are three different options for the Acura MDX 2003 trailer hitch from three different brands. They all appear to have the same 2inch hitch and the same ratings for towing. Other than the Curt mounting which has the center attachment and the differences in price, is there a reason to choose one hitch over another? It appears that the Curt might allow for a full sized spare tire, but I dont have a full sized spare tire. Any preferences that you have noted or expressed by your customers?

Out of the trailer hitches for your 2003 Acura MDX (# 13328, # 75599) I would not say that one of them is better than the other. The Curt hitch # 13328 is a great value and the one that I would choose if it were me. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you. Its on a Pilot which is the Honda equivalent to the MDX.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring I recommend # 118336 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle. I have linked a video showing how the wiring installs as well.
