Brake Controller Installation on 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup

Question:

Hello I have recently purchased a travel trailer. I want to set up a brake controller on my 2007 dodge ram 1500 big horn edition. I am unsure of what all I will need for the set up. I have been looking through the product and I like the tekonsha prodigy P3 and the adapter 4 pole to 7 pole and 4 pole w/test lamps. I am unsure if I am going to need a wiring kit. I didnt see anything that said the prodigy came with a wiring kit. If you could help me out with what all I will need it would be greatly appreciated!

There are a few possible ways your 2007 Dodge Ram could've been equipped from the factory. The parts you need will depend on how the truck was equipped. Because of that, the wiring kits are sold separately from the brake controllers.

1) If the truck has the factory 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper, installing # 90195 Prodigy P3 brake controller (excellent choice, by the way) in your Ram will be very simple. You'll need the controller itself and the # 3020-P brake controller wiring harness. I've linked you to a video showing this installation, which will take you just a few minutes.

2) The truck has the factory 4 pole trailer connector or no trailer connector at all. In either scenario, you'll need the controller itself plus our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. If the truck DOES NOT have the 4-pole, you'll need to install one using part # 119178KIT. I'll link you to installation instructions for the ETBC7 as well as an install video.
