Short bed pickups can tow 5th wheel trailers but they will require that a replacement pin box called a Sidewinder be installed on the trailer in order to have enough clearance for tight turns. The Sidewinder moves the trailer pivot point back by 22-inches which provides more turning clearance between the truck and trailer. The linked article will give you more detail on Sidewinders. If you have one of the pin boxes listed in the article you can use a Sidewinder replacement pin box.

Of course, your truck also has to have a towing capacity sufficient for the weight of the 5th wheel trailer. It is best to consult your Toyota owner's manual to confirm it's towing capacity since this can be affected by the specific equipment on your particular truck.

If you happen to have a 2015 model year Tundra a good entry-level 5th wheel hitch set-up is the 16K Reese # RP30047 fixed hitch and install rail kit # RP50084-58. This is a custom install kit that will not require any frame drilling for installation. For a 5th wheel wiring harness use # 41157; this harness plugs in at your existing 7-way to provide an in-bed electrical connection to your trailer.

Please feel free to let me know your truck model year, towing capacity and the weight of your trailer and I will be glad to help you find suitable components.
