Troubleshooting Hitch Hardware that Doesnt Want to Thread into Vehicle Weldnut

is there 2 different size bolts to attach the hitch 12m to the bottom plate but the frame nuts seem to be a different size

All of the install bolts that thread into an existing weldnut on your 2007 Chevy Equinox are the same size, M12. There are other size bolts that come with the # 36408 that has been confirmed as a fit for your vehicle. They are 1/2-13 and they do not attach to weldnuts, instead they attach to nuts that come with the hitch.

Most likely what is going on is that you have dirty or rusty weldnuts and the bolts are not wanting to thread all the way in. This is very common on vehicles that have been on the road for a few years.
