For your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 I recommend Curt custom installation kit # C16420-204. With the custom kit there is no drilling required to install the frame brackets of the installation kit so it takes less time for installation. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
For a Curt 16K slider hitch there are a couple of options. First, Curt has the E16 hitch, # 16516, which is an entry level hitch. It features a slide bar style jaw. This style of jaw is secure but allows for the most movement of the king pin in the hitch resulting in more chucking during starts and stops compared to other jaw styles. It also features a double pivot head which is the basic front back and side to side tilt on many hitches.
What I recommend is the next step up, the Q16, # C16521. This hitch features the more secure double jaw design. It also features a full floating head that is also cushioned for a better ride and less chucking than the entry level E16. Both hitches features a round tube slider with 12 inches of travel. I have linked video reviews of both hitches for you.
And finally I recommend adding a 7-Way trailer connector, # HM42137, in the bed of the truck to make hooking up easier. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation of this harness for you.
