Yes, you can put a slider 5th wheel trailer hitch in your 2016 Toyota Tundra short bed. First you will need an installation kit. I recommend Demco installation kit # DM8552020-71. The kit includes the rails, brackets, and hardware for installation.
For a hitch I recommend the 18K HiJacker auto-slide hitch # DM8550034. This hitch provides 14 inches of travel for clearance when making tight turns. And it slides automatically so you won't have to get in and out of the truck to operate the sliding feature.
I also recommend using wiring harness # 41157 to add a 7-Way trailer connector in the truck bed. This will make hooking up a 5th wheel trailer easier. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
