Recommended Tire Chains For 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup 2-Wheel Drive

Question:

I have a 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 with tire size of P265/70R17. I watched your video and they look to be easily installed. I want to make sure I am getting the correct chain. I will use them rarely but I have a house in western NC that is down a 3 mile gravel road in hilly conditions. The steepest part of the road is paved. I am new to the area but my neighbor tells me that last winter you really needed a 4 wheel drive to get in and out easily. I only have a 2W drive so I thought the chains would be a good alternative. Two questions. 1. What size is correct for my pickup? 2. How do you store them in the off season? Thank you.

The tire chains I recommend for your 2003 Ram pickup are part # TC2828CAM. These chains will provide traction when you are travelling in snow and ice on those hills you said you drive on. You can put these chains on the front tires as well as the rear, but if you use one set, they should be placed on the rear.

These are designed to fit the P265/70R17 tires you have on your truck. These are a ladder pattern V-bar link tire chain with cams. The cams are used to adjust the tension of the chains once you have them installed.

The chains can be stored in the off-season in the included canvas storage bag.

To make sure the chains stay secure when installed I recommend using chain adjusters like part # TCMA2. These adjusters feature hooks that attach to the chains and rubber arms that help keep tension on the chains and will not damage your wheels.

I have attached a link to an installation video for these chains you can check out. You will want to check your owner's manual to see if there are any restrictions regarding the use of tire chains on your truck. I have attached a link to a helpful article about tire chains you can take a look at.
