I would say that the Harmar al065 micro inside out lift, could be used on your 2001 Honda CR-V, as long as you take all of the weight ratings for your vehicle, the hitch and the lift into consideration. If you spoke with the Honda dealer and they told you not to use the lift on your vehicle, even with a Class III hitch, then I would go with their recommendation and try using or getting a vehicle capable of using a lift to fit your needs.

The Curt Custom Built Class III Trailer Hitch, item # 13314, for the 2001 Honda CR-V, is designed to accept 350 pounds of tongue weight. The Harmar al065 micro inside out lift weighs 35 pounds, from my research check to be sure, and the lift is only capable of 200 pounds. You will also need a docking device which I could not find the weight of.

As long as the tongue weight capacity of your CR-V, check the owners manual, is over 200 pounds and the lift, your scooter, and the docking device along with anything else on the scooter do not weigh over the capacity of the lowest rated item, you should be able to use the lift without damaging your vehicle frame.

One suggestion is to keep the scooter as close to the center of the hitch and as close to the back of the vehicle as possible when lifting the scooter to place as little torque on the hitch and vehicle frame as possible. Do not try to use the lift to transport the scooter outside of the vehicle.

I would not consider using this lift with a 1-1/4 inch hitch on any vehicle.
