Troubleshooting Boat Trailer Running Lights

Running lights come on and then go off everything else okay

Sounds like you may have a weak ground.
You will want to make sure that you have the ground wire from the connector secured tightly to a clean surface on the trailer frame. I would also check to see if all of your taillights are grounded securely to a clean surface.
If that doesn't work, then it may be a corrosion issue with the plug. I would check both plugs to see if they are making a good connection, you can try to clean them but replacing them is usually the best option. Curt offers a 4-way flat connector # C58200 to help prevent this from happening on the vehicle end plug.
Another option would be to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993, to test the vehicle end connector to see if there is an issue on the tow vehicle end. If it is it could be a faulty ground or bad connector on the vehicle side.
