Thule Snow Chain Recommendation to Fit P255/50R20 Tire on a 2015 Ford Explorer
Question:
Will this product fit a 2015 ford explorer with P255/50R20 tires. Clearance is an issue here. This explorer is a 4wd. If these chains do fit can they be driven off road for instance if there is snow on the road and the chains are on and i come across a dirt road with snow can i drive on that road in a mountain community. Last thing is , in the owners manual snow chains cant be used. So what gives. Its confusing. Also will the chains be placed at the front or rear tires.

If the owners manual of a vehicle says that snow chains cannot be used then there is no safe way we can recommend them. Typically the reason for this is clearance issues.
The Thule Chains part # TH2004705265 are confirmed to fit the P255/50R20 tire size you have on your 2015 Ford Explorer and as far as clearance is concerned these are great in that regard as they will only require 12 mm of internal wheel well clearance.
I attached an install video for you to check out as well. These are considered on-road chains, but for a dirt road they would still work fine.
