Recommended Pop-In Ball Kit For Reese Elite Series Or 2011 And Newer Ford Under-Bed Gooseneck
Question:
Hello, I am contemplating purchasing either the Reese or the Curt branded trailer ball RP30137 or C60609. I have a few questions regarding the ball. 1. Is the craftsmanship on one better than the other? Both get excellent reviews. 2. Is the release for the Reese brand ball spring loaded The part you lift up and twist? I do know the Curt brand is not as you just lift the tab and twist 90 degrees to release the ball bearings. 3. Is there any chance that the tab can release while in the hitch and a trailer is in tow? Thank you for your help,

The Reese Elite Series Pop-In Ball Kit, part # RP30137, is designed for 2011 and newer Ford Super Duty trucks with the under-bed gooseneck hitch installed, or the Reese Elite Series under-bed gooseneck hitch.
The ball in this kit has a built-in ball bearing system and a compression spring that locks the ball in place when you lift and turn the lever. The kit also comes with 2 safety chain hookups that attach to the pucks in the gooseneck rails, and a handy storage bag that keeps everything together when not being used. It also has a rubber cover to keep debris out of the ball hole when the ball is removed as well. This system has a 30,000 lb gross towing weight capacity and the ball is 2-5/16 inch diameter.
The customer reviews on the RP30137 have been excellent and I would highly recommend this kit. I have not had any customers comment that they have had the ball come loose when it is installed and being used.
