For your 2014 Ram 1500 with the 5-1/2 foot bed you will need a fixed 5th wheel hitch, not a slider, and you will need a Sidewinder pin box to replace the one that is on the trailer. A Sidewinder moves the pivot point of the trailer back 22 inches to give you more clearance and you will not have to remove the truck tailgate like you would with a slider on such a short bed.

To determine if there is a Sidewinder that will fit your trailer I will need to know the manufacturer and model number of the pin box itself. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box. I have included a link to our Sidewinder help article for you as well.

Sidewinders cannot be used with the SuperGlide because it slides automatically and that would put too much stress on the hitch and trailer. So the SuperGlide and its installation kit will have to come out.

You can then install installation kit # RP30035-386 (instructions linked for reference). Then you can use a fixed hitch for industry standard rails such as # RP30047 rated for 16,000 pounds or # RP30928 rated for 20,000 pounds.
