Question:
Does the 2007 Toyota Sienna come prewired with a port for a brake controller? What products do you sell that can help me install a Prodigy P2?

Expert Reply:
On your 2007 Toyota Sienna it does not come prewired with a brake controller port.
To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885, on your vehicle you will need to install a 4 Pole trailer connector and then hardwire the remaining wires to the vehicle.
To get the 4 Pole trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle you will use the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118304. The wiring harness will plug in behind your taillights. There is no cutting or splicing of wires.
You will need the Brake Controller Installation Kit, # ETBC7, which comes with a 7 and 4 Way trailer connector.
To install the 7-Way and 4-Way trailer connector, plug it into the 4 Pole trailer connector that was installed on the back of your vehicle. There will be four additional wires sticking out the back of the adapter. The four additional wires are white, black, blue and purple.
The white is ground, it needs to be attached to the vehicle frame. The black is 12 volt power lead wire, it goes to the vehicles positive battery terminal, with the 40amp circuit breaker included in the # ETBC7 kit. The blue is the electric brake wire, it will connect to the blue electric brake wire coming from the brake controller in the vehicle cab. The purple wire is an auxiliary wire, and can be used as a 12 volt power source, or to power a reverse light or reverse lockout function if needed. If not used, this wire can be tied up.
To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885, you will use the included wiring harness that has a pigtail that you will use to hard wire the unit to your vehicle. The pigtail has four wires that will need to be connected as follows:
Black: 12 volt lead, attach to the vehicle positive battery terminal with either the 20amp or 30amp circuit breaker included in the # ETBC7 kit. Use the 20amp breaker if your trailer has 2 to 4 brakes, or the 30amp if the trailer has 4 to 8 brakes.
White: Ground, attach to the negative battery post using a piece of the double bonded wire that came in the # ETBC7 kit.
Blue: Electric brakes, attach to the blue electric brake wire from the rear of the vehicle
Red: Stoplight switch, normally located directly off the vehicles brake pedal
This will give you a brake controller and a 7-Way and 4-Way trailer connector on your 2007 Toyota Sienna.
I am sending links to the instructions for the brake controller and the wiring harness. Also a video link to the wiring harness being installed on a 2008 Toyota Sienna.
