Availability of Class I Trailer Hitch for 2015 Volkswagen Passat with 1.8L TSI Engine

Question:

Im looking for a tow setup for a 2015 VW Passat 1.8. I know they exist but your website doesnt show any for that engine. Any help?

Volkswagen introduced their Audi-developed 1.8L TSI engine and 6-speed automatic transmission for the Passat in February 2008. However, you are correct that we do not show this engine option among those on our hitch fit guide.

I contacted Curt Manufacturing and they were able to confirm the fit of their 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch # C11232 on your 1.8L Passat. The hitch includes the required installation hardware and instructions, which are also linked for you. The linked hitch installation article should help too.

If you ever want to use a hitch-mount bike rack or cargo carrier with this hitch you'll need to add the Curt stabilizing strap # 18050 to help support such non-wheeled loads. This is a Curt warranty requirement. For reference I have linked Class I bike and cargo carriers. You can carry up to two bikes on a Class I hitch but no more than two.

You will also need a wiring harness to operate the trailer's lights. You can use Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector
