Trailer Brakes Work with Manual Lever But Not Brake Pedal on a 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
I have a 99 Silverado 2500 with a prodigy brake controller that works when I manually push the lever but not when I apply the brake. I have used it for a couple years and have never had any trouble with it till the other day. Is my controller bad?

The problem you are having with your Prodigy brake controller # 90885 could be a blown stop light or CHMSL fuse. If the 3rd brake light does not light up, then that is a good indication it is a fuse.
If the fuses are good, then test the red wire for power using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 when the brake pedal is pressed. If there is power then there is likely an internal problem with the controller, and it will need to be replaced.
If there is no power on the wire, then you may have a damaged wire or pin in the connector that needs to be repaired or replaced. If using a plug-in harness the replacement is # 3025-P.
