5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 with B&W Gooseneck Hitch Installed
Question:
I purchased a 2013 Silverado 2500 with a B and W gooseneck on the truck. I will be towing a 11,000 lb fifth wheel. Which would be better, using a companion 5th wheel hitch or removing the gooseneck and installing a above bed 5th wheel hitch? Which would provide for a smoother and more stable ride? I will not be using the gooseneck. Is the single jaw or double jaw better?

Since you already have a B&W gooseneck trailer hitch on your 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500, it is going to act as an installation kit for the Companion 5th wheel trailer hitch # BWRVK3500 for a long bed truck or # BWRVK3400 for the slider version for short bed trucks.
Using a Companion hitch is the easiest solution. It will be safe and secure and you will not have to do all of the work of removing the gooseneck hitch and then paying and installing an all new kit to mount a 5th wheel hitch.
The single hook style jaw is considered the most secure followed by the dual jaws which is what the Companions use. Slide-bar style jaws allow the most movement of the king pin in the hitch which is something you do NOT want because it makes for a rougher and noisier ride.
