Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 sport LED driving pod lights with brackets. These three-inch LED driving pod lights are going to act as auxiliary high beams and increase your visibility to keep you safe. So if you're looking to upgrade the high beam setup on your vehicle, these might be a good option for you to consider. Now, as you can see, I do have this light connected to my power source already, and I also have one of the brackets installed to this light just to give you an idea of what that bracket's going to look like on this light.

And the brackets are constructed of aluminum, so you see what one looks like when it's not installed. So these brackets are going to be very durable. They're gonna allow you to install these lights virtually anywhere on your vehicle. It's gonna be a relatively easy install. You're gonna get the hardware that you need to install the light to the bracket.

And what's nice about using the bracket with the light is you're able to adjust the angle right where you want it, and then you can just tighten down that hardware to keep it at that angle. Then you're gonna get the hardware to mount the bracket to your vehicle. So again, pretty simple installation. Now let me go ahead and turn my factory, my studio lights off, rather, and zoom out here just to give you a better idea of what these lights are gonna look like in low light or dark conditions. And then I wanna shine this light on the wall behind me to give you a good view of that beam pattern.

Now that driving beam pattern is gonna give you enough width to light up a standard road or trail. And this light has a color temperature of 6,000 kelvin. So that cool white color will match most of your factory lights. That crisp color is gonna really help with visibility. And these lights have a raw lumen rating of 2,262 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 1,520 lumens.

So let me go ahead and turn my studio lights back on. Even with my studio lights on, you can see that beam, and see how bright this light is. Now going back in for a closeup, this has a peak beam intensity of 54,700 candela. Now, in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output, and it's how anything is rated where you want lights shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want lights shining in all directions. The power draw on that main beam is 1.1 amps. And these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't really efficient at focusing all the light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of the light forward very efficiently. And instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly onto the surface of this lens. So that's going to prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with an outside lens. You might know that when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose some of that light. You could lose up to 10% of that light from it just shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're actually going to pick up some efficiency, rather than lose it. This does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch-style connector. So you'll get pigtails here with that Deutsch-style connector. And then that's just going to plug securely into place in the back of the light. And then while we're looking at the back of the light, let me show you that we do have a breather patch here. It's gonna prevent any moisture buildup. And then these heat sinks on the back of the housing are going to do a great job of dissipating heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. And these lights have been built with high-intensity LED chips. And as you heard, they do feature a durable, powder-coated aluminum construction. And that heavy duty construction's going to withstand things such as extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration, and testing has been completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting note to make is Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area. So let me give you some overall measurements. Looking at the width from end to end, we're sitting at about three and a quarter inches. That's gonna be the same measurement for the height as well. Now when you add the bracket to the light, that's obviously gonna increase the height. So measuring from the top of the light to the bottom of our bracket, we're sitting at about three and three-quarters inches tall. And then the overall depth from the front of the light to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting pretty close to two and three-eighths inches deep. Now these lights do draw high current, and they do require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you wanna make sure that you're using wiring that's 16 gauge or larger to ensure that safe operation.
