Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector Recommendation for a 2003 Lexus GX 470

Question:

hello I have gx470 2003 but no towing package. I saw connectors where you can hook up the towing 7 ways to the connector of the suv but no power at the connectors at all. I believe there is some kind of connection between the fuse box to the harness to the towing connector there I think it is a T connector. Can you find out the part # on the wire harness or do you have that kind of connector to sell me.? thanks alot

We have products that will allow you to install a 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your 2003 Lexus GX 470, but not a factory harness route like you mentioned you are interested in. That would most likely be a dealer only option that would be somewhat expensive.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # C59496.

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.

If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
