Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 700 lbs Tongue Weight

Question:

How much over my expected tongue weight should I go with my hitch. My trailer is only 2915 lbs, single axle, with a 360lb tongue dry. My TV is a V8 Mountaineer AWD. I figure with gear in the trailer and Mounty I might be as high as 6 or 700 lbs including the load behind my Mounaineers rear axle and the trailer tongue weight. Should I go for an 800 lbs WDH or should I go with 1,000 lbs to be safe. The fear is that when I am light I will be too stiff. I also want sway control what units might I look at that will allow backing up. I am half senile and could see myself forgetting to unhook the anti sway to back.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

If you think the highest you would go is 700 lbs and would prefer a lighter setup then I would go with an 800 lb system like the # RP66083. This system has a tongue weight range of 400 lbs - 800 lbs and features the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts. This system also allow backing up.
