Installing Reese Low Profile 5th Wheel Hitch on 2016 Ram 5500

Question:

I have a 2016 ram 5500 cab and chassis. My question is this part bolts right to the frame but my frame is 34in outside to outside and 28 inside to inside. so please help me see how this product bolts directly to my frame

For your 2016 Ram 5500, you will need to have some kind of brackets fabricated to install the Reese Low-Profile 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30054.

When the truck's frame is wider than the 5th wheel hitch, brackets need to be fabricated to secure the hitch to both the truck deck and the frame. Per the installation instructions, the hitch needs to be installed through a 1/2 inch steel plate under the deck, the 1/2 inch steel plate must be welded to brackets that are bolted to the truck chassis.
