Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For 1999 Honda CR-V
Question:
do you sell a 2 or 3 , class 3 hitch bike rack that fits on a 1999 honda crv ? will the hitch extend out past the tire.. I need 7 inches from the pin hole past the spare tire to put the bike on?

The trailer hitch we offer that has the shortest distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the rear-mounted spare tire on a CR-V is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13314. That measurement is 6-1/2 inches. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening.
This measurement was taken with a 2000 CR-V, but a word of caution is to make sure you do not have an oversized tire on the back that could affect the clearance you need. I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains how to measure the clearance for a bike rack you can check out.
Per the Curt warranty requirements, all non-trailer loads (bike racks, cargo carriers, etc) must be supported by stabilizing straps, like part # 18050, which is sold separately.
I recommend a hanging bike carrier like part # C18064. This bike carrier is made of strong steel to support up to 4 bicycles and measures 10 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright bar. This bike rack also has a tilting feature when empty that allows you rear cargo area access.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
