Breakaway System and Brake Output Wire Recommendation for Trailer
Question:
My breakaway pin got pulled accidentally and wouldve been no big deal. In my case however, the switch basically melted in addition to the melting of the wire insulation in what appears to be all the way to the front drivers side tire/brake on the camper. Id like to replace this myself if possible and do not see a battery box anywhere. I can see its a Bargman but past that Im not sure of model. This is from a 2007 Coachman Captiva 281rbs. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to pay $$$ at a dealer to get this fixed. Thanks.

If you have extensive melted wire on your brake output circuit you will need to basically rewire the entire circuit with 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot).
You also need an entire new breakaway system as it sounds like you don't have a proper battery or system since your wiring got fried.
The # 50-85-313 would be a great option that would work well. I attached a diagram and install video that shows how it will install.
