Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Stopped Working After Fifth Wheel 7-Way Was Installed
Question:
I recently purchased the plug and play style wiring harness for installing a fifth wheel plug in the bed of my 2015 Ram 2500 Laramie. Ever since I did so, the ITBC Integrated Trailer Brake Controller no longer recognizes when there is a trailer connected allowing the trailer brakes to work. No, theyre not Electric over hydraulic, even though the factory ITBC can be configured for that style of trailer brakes. They worked fine before this now they dont work at all.

Do the rest of the trailer lighting function still function through both 7-ways? It almost sounds like maybe the connections weren't made all the way and one of the 7-ways isn't functioning because of this.
I would recommend you use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the brake output circuit pin of both 7-ways for voltage when the manual override of your controller is applied to see if you can get voltage at both. If not, then the problem is the connection.
