Recommended Replacement Hubs For Older Boat Trailer

Question:

I need help finding a new hub assembly for an old boat trailer. The tire rim mounted on the hub was 5 bolt, 4 and 1/2inch diameter pattern. The spindle has two different shaft diameters, the diameter of the inner part that the inner bearing rides on is about 1 1/4inch 1.2475 and is 2.5inch in length. The diameter of the other part wear the other bearing rides on is 3/4inch 0.7470 and is 2inch in length. The threaded end of the other part is about 1inch of that 2inch length. Do you have a set of hub assemblies and bears that will work for this trailer? Thanks in advance for your time.

We do carry a hub that uses the size bearings you mentioned but it has a 4 on 5 bolt pattern and is typically used for agricultural trailers or wagons. Agricultural hubs and spindles are designed for low-speed applications. The bearings, grease seal and grease cap are included with this hub.

We do not carry any wheels with the 4 on 5 bolt pattern, and they may be difficult to locate. With the dimensions you stated you have on your trailer it is not a common bearing combination and may be extremely difficult to find. If you find you cannot locate some of the components you need you may wish to consider replacing the axle on your trailer with an axle that has the hubs with the components included. We carry axles with hubs up to 3,500 lb capacity and also carry wheels and tires that work with those hubs.

You will need to determine the width of the axle you need. We offer 3 different length axles with hubs, 60 inch, 72 inch, and 89 inch. I have attached a link to our product page that lists the axles we have available. You can narrow your search by the spring center to center you need as well as the length of the axle. If you have any questions about a specific axle or component let me know and I can make some recommendations that will work for you.

If you do not find any axles that will work for your trailer, we do also offer axle-less systems that attach directly to the frame of your trailer. These are also in the link I have provided.
