To install the Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller # TK90160 in your 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee you will want to use the pigtail wiring harness that comes with the brake controller. This pigtail will need to be hardwired into your vehicle.
The white wire on the pigtail will be grounded at the negative battery terminal, the black wire will need to be ran through a circuit connector and to the positive battery terminal, the red wire will need to be spliced into the stoplight wire at the back of the brake pedal, and the blue wire will need to be spliced to the electric brake wire at the 7-way connector.
In order to run the wire to the vehicle battery and to the 7-way connector, you will want to use # 5506. This kit will provide you with 25 feet of duplex wire, a 20 amp breaker, a 30 amp breaker, a 40 amp breaker, as well as ring terminal connectors and butt connectors.
If you need to drill a hole through the firewall in your Grand Cherokee, you may need to install a grommet, like # SWC8057 to protect your wires from the edges of the hole.
When running your wire to the 7-way connector at the rear of the vehicle, you will want to make sure to keep it away from any moving parts. If you need clamps to help secure the wire up and out of the way, you can use a metal loom clamp like # A0500.
