Can a 4-Way Trailer Connector be Mounted Outside of a 2014 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Is it possible to mount the 4-way connector outside the vehicle instead of in the cargo area? I plan on installing electrical braking as well and need to know how to route the 4-way connector to the outside.

There are a couple of ways that you could potentially route the 4-Way trailer connector to the outside of your 2014 Toyota Sienna. First, with the driver's side tail light assembly removed check down below it to see if there is a way to route the 4-Way down so that it exists below the bumper. If there isn't a hole, one would have to be drilled.
The other option is to remove everything you can from the floor of the cargo area. Look for a grommet you could route the wiring through. If there isn't one then you would need to drill a hole. When drilling holes be sure to not drill through anything important on the other side!
Once a hole is made and the wiring is routed through it the hole will need to be sealed back up with silicone such as # 0160297 to keep out fumes and moisture.
For a 7-Way connector and wiring to hardwire in a brake controller use # ETBC7. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you. For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because its easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
