How to Know if the Hub part # 84545UC1-EZ Will fit an Axle Spindle

Question:

Hello, Im considering purchasing part # 84545UC1-EZ for a 3500 lb. Dexter Axle for a gooseneck stock trailer. Both axles were replaced a few months ago, but the vendor sold me axles with two different bolt patterns one is a 5inch on 4.5inch brake axle and the other a 5inch on 5inch idler axle. The trailer originally had the 5inch on 4.5inch on both axles as all the original rims fit that pattern. Rather than have to carry two spare tires, or replace the entire axle, is it possible to remove the 5inch on 5inch idler hub and replace it with a 5inch on 4.5? That way, I will only have to carry one spare. I wasnt sure if the part number listed above would be easily interchangeable. Thank you,

Most likely you would be able to remove the 5 on 5 inch hub of your trailer axle and replace it with the part # 84545UC1-EZ but you are going to need to verify that this hub will fit your spindle.

In order to do that you can either get the inner and outer bearing numbers from a hub or use a dial or digital caliper to get exact measurements of the spindle. The measurements needed are the parts of the spindle where the bearings ride.

If the bearing numbers are L68149 and L44649 this hub would fit and work well for you. Or if the measurements on the spindle are 1.06 and 1.38 inches.
