Availability of a Trailer Coupler for a 2-1/2-Inch Hitch Ball

Trailer couplers like the Dutton-Lainson # DL13847 that you referenced, which fits 2-inch balls, are available in two other sizes, 1-7/8-inches and 2-5/16-inches. We do not offer any couplers that fit a 2-1/2-inch ball and I could not find any information about this size. It is certainly not in common use today or in recent years.

For reference I have linked our main page for couplers, including all three sizes: 1-7/8-inch, 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch. Perhaps it may be that you actually have a 2-5/16-inch size hitch ball. Our couplers in this size are offered in weight capacities ranging from 8500-lbs up to 21000-lbs and in both weld-on and bolt-on types.

For example, Titan coupler # T4853100 fits a 2-5/16-inch ball, bolts on to your trailer tongue and has a 21K trailer weight capacity.
