Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For Recumbent Bike On 2006 Lexus IS 250

I am searching for a quality hitch and carrier to transport a SUN X3-AX delta recumbent trike. I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250. trike specs are: Wheel Base: 56? 142cm Overall Length: 75? 191cm Width: 30? 76cm Seat Height: 20? 51cm Weight: 49 lbs.

We do offer one trailer hitch that is designed to fit your Lexus. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11372. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. All non-trailer loads like bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth should be supported with stabilizing straps like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.

The bike carrier I recommend for your Sun recumbent bike is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, part # HR1000Z-R. The bike carrier will work with a maximum wheelbase of 74 inches and tires up to 3 inches wide. This bike rack does have a weight capacity of 45 lbs per bike so you may need to remove something like the seat from the bike that gets you down to the 45 lbs.

To secure the bike to the carrier and the carrier to the trailer hitch I recommend part # HRLHPTC. This includes an anti-rattle hitch lock and cable lock. I have attached a link to a product review video you can check out.
