Fifth Wheel Recommendations for a 2016 Ford F-350 with Hitch Prep Short Bed

Question:

Hi. Im buying a new F350 short bed truck with the factory prepped fifth wheel option. I think Id still like slider ability and exploring my options. I currently have a slider in my old truck but hardly ever use it - but for piece of mind... I am thinking about a standard hitch and a Reese Sidewinder. My current pin box is a MorRyde SPB72-770 with a GVWR of 21k. I think thats way more than my trailer requires Ill need to check that. Is there a Sidewinder that will work with this? An auto slider might not work as I have parallel park my trailer next to my garage and I cant unhook in a straight line. Thanks for your insight.

The Mor/Ryde part # SPB72-770 on your trailer indicates that you have a Fabex 770 Pin Box on your trailer. I spoke with my contact at Sidewinder and he informed me that there are no Sidewinder options for the Fabex 770 so your best option is going to be a slider hitch setup.

I also spoke with my contact at Demco and he said that the Demco Hijacker # DM8550038 that you referenced can unlatch at a slight angle. He said that the max angle the hitch head can be is 8-10 degrees away from being in a total straight line. This hitch has been confirmed as a fit for your 2016 Ford F-350 short bed with hitch prep package.

For a regular slider hitch that would fit the hitch prep package you could go with the # RP30144 instead.
