Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2004 Mercury Sable to Tow a Boat Trailer
Question:
Is there a class III hitch with a 2inch receiver that will work on my 2004 Mercury Sable as I plan on pulling a 12foot aluminum boat with a 8hp 4 stroke motor and gear?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The only hitch available for the 2004 Mercury Sable is the Class II Curt hitch # C12232 with 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. But you will need to check the Sable owner's manual to determine its towing capacity. Whichever is lower, the hitch or the vehicle, is the capacity you need to go by.
For a hitch I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36313. For a ball mount use # 36061. For a 1-7/8 inch ball you can use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball you can use # 19258.
And to add a 4-Way trailer connector you can use # 119178KIT.
