Trailer Hitch Installation Recommendations for a 2003 to 2005 Mercedes M-Class ML350
Question:
Do I need to install the side brackets if my towing weight is only about 1200 lbs, trailer with jetski. One manufacturer Curt Mnufacturing Inc selling only central piece monted with four bolts, without brackets. Their installation instruction say that it is goof for 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight. Simply do not have time to install the brackets, will I be OK without ?

Curt Trailer Hitch, # 13018 is designed to install without the additional brackets. I have included a link to the installation details for you. The hitches that install without the additional brackets are not rated for weight distribution systems. The brackets on the other hitches provide extra support for the added stress of higher capacities on the trailer hitch when weight distribution is being used.
With any hitch installation, you will need to make sure you install all of the parts for safe operation of the hitch. If you do not, the hitch could fail causing damage to the trailer, the hitch, or the tow vehicle.
