Question:
Im wondering which reese weight distribution hitches are compatible w/ my current hitch ratings. under weight carrying, the hitch says max gross trailer weight = 3500lbs max gross tongue weight 350lbs and under weight distribution max gross trailer weight = 5000lbs max gross tongue weight =500lbs

Some hitches can handle heavier tongue weights (TW) and gross trailer weights (GTW) when used with a weight distribution (WD) system. For example, Draw-Tite # 75270 is nominally rated for 4500-lbs trailer weight but if used with a WD system the hitch can handle up to 5000-lbs. You also want to check your Odyssey owner's manual to confirm the vehicle's own TW and GTW ratings which may differ from the hitch. The lower rating must be followed.
The key for selecting a Reese WD system is to confirm your fully loaded trailer's actual TW. To that you will add the weight of anything in the vehicle's cargo area that sits behind the rear axle - say a generator or loaded cooler - which together give you your total TW figure. With that total TW figure you can choose a system with the right amount of tension so that it can shift some of that TW forward to the Odyssey's front axle without being so stiff that it creates odd handling. Ideally your total TW will fall into the middle of the system's operating range.
You can use the link I included for you to select your total TW figure and then see suitable systems. I recommend a system with built-in sway prevention that stops sway before it even starts. Let's say your total TW is 600-lbs. Just click on that figure to see suitable systems. The system I recommend is the Reese Strait-Line # RP66083 since it is compatible with your electric brakes, allows you to back up the trailer and it includes the shank portion of the hitch. All you need to add is the hitch ball, either 2-inch # A-90 or 2-5/16-inch # 19286.
