Can the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Be Easily Removed and Reinstalled
Question:
I like the concept of the S/C Bike Bunk for carrying two bikes the rear trailer bumper is too weak to carry the weight and the spare tire is in the way. My question is whether the Bike Bunk can be easily detached from the frame to allow the pop-out rear bed to be let down for sleeping? When let down the pop-out comes down to almost the height of the two 20lb gas tanks so I need to be able to detach the uprights from the two sockets attached to the a-frame. This procedure would be required each night when traveling so needs to be fairly painless. My other question is whether there are any restrictions as to the shape of the a-frame cross-section structure? I hope that you can throw some light on these two issues. Thanks.

It would probably take you about 5 minutes to take down the Bike Bunk # CC-275 to be able to open the camper. All you would have to do is loosen the 4 bolts on each side of the trailer (8 total) holding the uprights to the trailer frame enough to be able to pull the uprights and center cross-section up and out of the brackets.
There are no known restrictions for the A-frame construction. I can tell you that the carrier will fit A-frames that are 14 to 55 inches wide and that the mounting brackets are 8 inches tall 4-3/4 inches wide and 2 inches deep. They are flat so ideally the frame surfaces would also be flat and not tube framing.
I have linked the instructions and a video review for you.
