How to Pick Out a Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2013 GMC Terrain
Question:
I have a 2013 GMC Terrain AWD. How do I know if I need the wiring kit with the converter or without? My vehicle did not come with a tow package.

There are two trailer wiring kits available for your 2013 GMC Terrain without the tow package. The Curt kit part # 56094 that does not have a converter and the Tow Ready part # 118494 that does have a converter.
Both are listed as fits so either would work, but the Tow Ready would be a safer option as it draws all of the amperage to power the trailer lights from the vehicle battery whereas the Curt powers the taillights by drawing from the taillight circuits. The drawback to the Tow Ready is that it will be a bit more involved for installation.
If it were me I would consider the amount of trailer lights that will be on the trailer. If there are several lights on the trailer that are incandescent then I would go with the Tow Ready. If the trailer only has a few LEDs then I would go Curt.
