Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2011 Nissan Murano
Question:
I am looking to install an electric brake controller on a 2011 Nissan Murano. I have been to a couple trailer hitch shops and they tell me it cant be done. They are telling me if you tap into the brake light switch circuit to activate the brake controller it will mess with the vehicles computer and cause it to error. I just finished watching a video you have on your website showing installation of a brake controller on a 2009 Murano. Can your tech department assist or tell me if that installation procedure can be used on a 2011? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

There will be no issues installing a controller in your vehicle as long as you install it properly. You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 55571 for if you have a CrossCabriolet or part # C59496 for if you do not.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
I attached the install video that you mentioned that shows a controller being installed on a 2009 Murano. It will be the same process for your 2011.
