Ball Mount, Ball, Sway Control, Locks, Spare Tire for Hallmark Trailer and 2006 Toyota Highlander

Question:

I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander for which I purchased a Curt Trailer Hitch as per the number #13530. I have also purchased a Hallmark Enclosed trailer PPT6X12DS2 Utility which is a 6x6x12foot long trailer. I need a 2inch ball and hitch to hook up to the trailer. What kind of hitch and secure locking device would you suggest for the hitch. Standard A Frame Tongue What kind of secure locking device would you recommend for the trailer. I also saw a special on a torsion/sway bars kit. Is this still available? I need a price also on a spare tire 1 ST205/75R15C Radial 5B White Spoke Wheel I look forward to your recommendations and costs. Thank You

First, to determine the correct ball mount you can follow the help article I have linked. It is important to measure ahead of time to get a ball mount with the right rise or drop needed to tow the trailer level.

Or you can go with an adjustable ball mount such as # TK5007 which is great for more than one trailer or if you might be towing something different in the future. It has a maximum rise of 9 inches and maximum drop of 10 inches. For a 2 inch ball that is compatible with this ball mount use # 63845.

For a lock set you can use # e99039 which includes a hitch lock and a coupler latch lock for 1/2 inch wide latches, 1/4 inch diameter (on the latch lock). They will use the same key so you don't have to keep track of a bunch of different keys. Another option is set # 3794DAT which also use the same keys. It comes with locks for 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch hitches, a latch lock, and a coupler lock.

For sway bars, are you looking at anti-sway bars for your 2006 Toyota Highlander or are you looking at weight distribution/sway control for the trailer? If it is weight distribution then to choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

If you just want a friction anti-sway bar you can use # 83660 with bracket # RP26003.

For a spare ST205/75R15 radial tire, load range C with a white steel spoke wheel and 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern you can use # TA67VR.
