Will Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Cause it to Sag in the Back
Question:
I realize additional weight will affect ground clearance see previous post, but Will the installation of the hitch itself lower the unloaded ground clearance of the Crosstrek?

Curt trailer hitch # C13135 for the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek weighs about 40 pounds at most so it probably would not cause much, if any, sag at the rear of the vehicle.
For a rudimentary test you can park the vehicle on level ground. Then measure from the ground to the top of the rear wheel well. Then add about 40 pounds as far back in the cargo area as you can. Next, take the same measurement again to see if it has gone down at all.
If you plan on doing any towing with the hitch I have included a link that explains how to determine the proper ball mount to tow the trailer level.
For trailer wiring you can use # 118467, which fits several Subaru vehicles. I have linked videos showing hitch and wiring installation examples.
Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or car go carrier) per their warranty requirements.
