Comparing Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier # HRE3 to Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier # TH911XT
Question:
I have a 2007 Toyota Sienna and need a bike rack. I see the Holiday Express rack has great reviews and it is inexpensive and takes 3 bikes. Wondering how it compares to the Tule please?

The Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier # HRE3 is a cost-effective and lightweight trunk-mount rack that does fit the 2007 Toyota Sienna. The Thule racks that are specified to fit your car are shown on the included link. The most cost-effective of these is their Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT; a 3-bike version is also offered as part # TH911XT.
All three racks share very similar overall design and construction since all are entry-level racks. Any one will work fine for you as long as your Sienna does not have a roofline spoiler above the glass on the rear hatch.
If you do have a spoiler then a much better option is the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Carrier # HRF2, or the 3-bike version # HRF2-3, which are designed to avoid any potential strap contact with the spoiler that could possibly damage it. These cosmetic structures are NOT designed to handle any amount of weight and so it is best to avoid putting any load on them.
The unique arched design of the Over the Top racks avoids any spoiler contact thanks to its arched frame design. This rack does cost more than the others but that extra cost is far less than that for replacing a trim piece on your vehicle should it be damaged. Please refer to the linked video for more information on the Over the Top racks.
