Compatibility of Reese Weight Distribution Chain Brackets with Trailer Having Tool Box in A-Frame
Question:
How far back from the center of the coupler do the chain brackets mount? I have a tool box mounted welded in the A-frame. I have 31inch along the frame from the coupler to the box.

Expert Reply:
The chain lift brackets in the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084 mount to your trailer frame about 30-inches back from hitch ball and the brackets themselves measure approximately 5-1/2-inches wide.
If your trailer frame does not have enough available space to mount these supplied brackets you can instead use Reese part # RP58305 which bolts on to the side of your trailer frame using included hardware (2 bolt lengths are supplied to enable a good fit on various frame sizes). You will need to drill holes in the frame members in order to mount these.
If you prefer a no-drill alternative you might instead use the Reese Clamp On Chain Hangers # RP58306.
