How to Power Interior Lights of Converted Camper

Question:

I have a cargo trailer with a 4 way flat connector. I have converted to a camper. I have a tongue box with a 12v deep cell battery. I have tapped into the 4way brown and my interior light works as well as the ceiling fan in the vent top....but so does everything elserunning lights, taillights, etc. How can I wire to just have interior/fan to work?

Expert Reply:

I recommend using a separate 12-volt battery installed on the trailer to provide power to the interior lights/fan. The 12-volt accessory power circuit can be used to provide a maintenance charge to this battery, but the alternator on the tow vehicle and the limited gauge of the wire feeding the circuit will prevent enough power from getting through to charge the battery if it becomes depleted. When alternative power is available, you can use a charger like the # NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5 to charge the battery.
