Recommended Lightweight Hitch-Mount Cargo Carrier for 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
I am looking for a hitch cargo rack for a 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. Something light weight and easy to come on and off. Only carrying beach chairs and cooler a short distance. No highways. I would like to be able to open/close rear door of jeep while carrier is empty with out having to take it off. What do you recommend for this use. Thanks

Your 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited could have either of two hitch sizes installed, either a 1-1/4-inch Class II or a 2-inch Class III hitch. You'll want to confirm which hitch size you have and also take a measurement of the back of the Jeep to see how much clearance you need for a carrier to clear you spare tire and bumper.
The linked articles on hitches will help you confirm which type and size you have and the linked articles on cargo carriers will help you consider your options and preferences. Please note that we do offer several carriers that fit both hitch sizes, such as the Curt # C18145 which weighs only about 28-lbs.
The lightest carrier we offer for a 2-inch hitch is the Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18113 which tips the scales at only 25-lbs. This carrier is also a low-profile design (only 4-3/4-inches tall) so it will give you the best clearance.
A link is provided to show you all hitch carriers and you can use the filters on the page to narrow the results based on your preferences.
