Can a Curt Brake Controller be Plugged Into a 2012 Nissan Frontier

Question:

Hi guys. I would like to install this brake controller C74VV w/C51382 in my 2012 Nissan Frontier. I just bought it used and it already had a round 6-pin connection at the rear bumper. I would like to know what else I need to complete my install and proper wiring at the rear if needed. I thought I just needed the Adapter 6-Pole to 7-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter - 47435, which I have already ordered thru you guys but now I am not sure if I really needed it. I did watch your video on installing this Curt Brake Controller on the 2014 Nissan Frontier and I did find the connection I saw in the video already under the steering wheel So I am good to go there. Do I need any special relays under the hood? What special wiring to do I need to do at the rear of the truck as it already has a round 6-pin connection? If you have a special email address I can use I can send you a few pics I took of the rear of the truck, relays under the hood, and under the dash Many thanks in advance for your assistance!

You may have the port under the dash to plug in a brake controller but the wiring harness you took a picture of is aftermarket meaning your 2012 Nissan Frontier does not have the factory tow package.

Since I do not know the state of that wiring harness I recommend replacing it wit ha 7-Way trailer connector # 118266. It does include the jumper harness and relays. With it installed you will be able to plug in the brake controller.
